In February FolgarìaSki is presenting a major project, unique in Italy.
The non-profit association “Lo Spirito di Stella”, in collaboration with FolgarìaSki, Scie di Passione, Invacare and the Rotary Club Schio – Thiene, is making official the donation of a wheelchair to all the already accessible mountain huts of the Carosello. This way, skiers with disabilities will be able to arrive, take off their equipment and use the wheelchairs to go inside and enjoy a break in complete peace.
But that’s not all: under the project, when picking up the ski pass (50% off for each person with a disability and one companion), visitors will be given a map of all the fully accessible venues and car parks. Both initiatives reflect the spirit of Andrea Stella, who in 2000 was caught up in a shooting in Miami that left him in a wheelchair. His passion drove him not to give up and to hold on to his desire to sail. He built the first catamaran that can be used by a disabled person and in 2003 founded the Association. And now here he is, in Folgaria, a Carosello which, thanks to its impeccable snow and the lie of the land, is ideal for everyone, whether disabled or able-bodied.
