After years of hard work the project is taking shape and the Pinzolo-Madonna di Campiglio link is finally becoming a reality. From this winter, skiers will be able to start carving the snow of what will become the largest ski area in Trentino.
Already an important and historic ski centre, Campiglio will become the largest ski hub in Trentino. Pinzolo (25 km of slopes), Madonna di Campiglio (65 km) and Folgarida Marilleva (60 km) for a total of 150 km: this will be the new ski domain of the Campiglio area.
The lift that made the Pinzolo – Madonna di Campiglio link possible is an 8-seater gondola lift capable of carrying up to 1,800 skiers an hour from one side to the other in just 16 minutes.
The first station is located on the slopes of Pinzolo at 1,600 m and there are 2 mid-stations, one at Plaza (1,140 m) and one at Colarin (1,512 m), before arriving directly on the slopes of Madonna di Campiglio at Patascoss (1,753 m).
The link will allow skiers to move easily from one resort to the other, so they can enjoy all the slopes regardless of where they start from. A considerable convenience that has opened the door to new development opportunities and new scenarios.
New ski slopes
Thanks to this major renewal, new ski slopes have taken shape. Among the most important is the “Dolomitica” run, available in 2 variants: the first, “Star”, for expert skiers, and the second, “tour”, with a less demanding and more scenic section.
Both runs are in Pinzolo: the “Dolomitica Star” will start at 2,100 m and descend towards 825 m, a vertical drop of 1,248 m, a length of 3,455 m and a gradient of 36%.
The second run, the “Dolomitica Tour”, shares the same altitude and vertical drop but follows a different route, less demanding and more scenic. A run with excellent views, suitable for all kinds of skiers and snowboarders. The last section of the run follows the route of the “star” run, which gives it a steeper average gradient, reaching 22%.
Madonna di Campiglio is also expanding its skiing offer with 4 new runs in the 5 Laghi area, adding brand-new runs to the newly arrived connecting gondola lift.
The new entries will be a new black run, the “Nube d’Oro”, 2 new variants of the 5 Laghi run, a new Malga Zeledria-Campo Carlo Magno run and a mini snowpark at Pradalago.
The relaunch of the Val Rendena also extends to the nearby Val di Sole, which will become part of the ski domain together with Pinzolo and Madonna di Campiglio thanks to Folgarida and Marilleva. Here the new season will be inaugurated by a new four-seater chairlift at “Doss del la Pesa” and 2 new drag lifts.
Thanks to this new skiing offer, Campiglio is preparing not only for a new winter season but for a new future, a future as a leading player on the winter tourism and winter sports scene.
