Initially, snow forecasts did not predict snow all the way down to the center of Cervinia, but fortunately the snow line dropped and since yesterday it has been snowing non-stop at the foot of the Matterhorn—a full-blown blizzard that brought snow depths from 0 to 100 cm in just 24 hours.
Here is the official announcement from the lift company confirming the opening of the Italian side:
Starting Saturday, November 8, skiing will be open on the upper section of the Ventina slope (ski-in return to Cime Bianche) and, also starting Saturday, the “Plan Maison”, “Fornet”, and “Bontadini” chairlifts will be operating, along with the “Baby La Vieille” ski lift and the magic carpet for beginners.
In addition, skiers can also enjoy the 23 kilometers of slopes on the Plateau Rosà glacier, where runs are open down to Trockener Steg.Daily passes valid in Breuil-Cervinia will have the following rates:
morning/Afternoon € 25.50
daily € 31.00
Not just Plateau Rosà, then, but also the Italian side of the Cervinia ski area: plenty of open lifts and plenty of snow—the ski season is off to the best possible start!!!
