The ski season is right around the corner in the Engadine thanks to recent snowfalls that have whitened the peaks of the Swiss valley. Around ten centimeters of fresh snow have transformed the landscape from autumn to winter, just days ahead of the lift opening on the Diavolezza glacier.
Small but mighty, one could say, because this snowfall has made it possible to confirm the opening of the ski lifts, meaning we are back on the slopes starting Saturday, October 18!
Snowcats are already at work preparing the base thanks to the snow preserved under geotextile sheets that protected the glacier from sun and rain over the summer; here, more than in any other area, the use of protective covers has yielded outstanding results, bringing the glacier from a state of potential disappearance back into good shape.
