It was probably inevitable, because nobody can pass up a wonderful day of skiing or snowboarding with nearly 1 meter of snow on the slopes (after a month without snow), shining sun, and right in the middle of the Christmas holidays!
From the early hours of the morning, ski pass offices began welcoming the first intrepid skiers and snowboarders, and before long the first queues formed at the lifts, clearing only in the afternoon as the sun went down.

The queues at the ticket desks and lifts were amply rewarded with perfect slopes, abundant snow, and fairytale landscapes—conditions that had not been seen for quite some time in our mountains after a December to forget.
Now the ski season is ready to take off thanks to the heavy snowfalls; furthermore, more snow is on the way over the weekend to lock in the already rich “snow haul” from Boxing Day.

Disruptions in the Dolomites
The heavy snowfalls caused considerable disruptions at several ski resorts in the Dolomites, notably Cortina d’Ampezzo, Alleghe, and Arabba.
The Belluno area suffered a power blackout caused by trees falling onto power lines.
Ski lifts were closed and roads congested due to ongoing work to repair the grid and clear road hazards (snow slides, fallen trees, etc.).
Things are now slowly returning to normal, and all issues should be resolved by Saturday, December 28.

More Snow over the weekend
More snow is expected for the weekend: starting Saturday, snow will fall once again on the Alpine ski slopes. The snow line should settle around 700/1,000 meters, though with less intense precipitation than the last snowfall.
Happy snow holidays to everyone!
