The first 3 “Mountain Oscars” (Freeski, Snowpark and Snowboard), created and presented by Skipass, the Tourism and Winter Sports Exhibition of ModenaFiere, and organized in collaboration with MOON and the support of the leading media in the sector, were awarded in the magnificent glass-walled Puff stand hosted by Gigi Gas and featuring the great Paolo Noise from Radio105.
Snowpark Awards
The Snowpark Awards saw the Snowpark SeiserAlm of Alpe di Siusi triumph in the new Best Super Park category as well as in Best Jib Line and Best Pro Line.
Livigno with Mottolino Snowpark took home just as many awards: best beginners, best marketing, and a special honorable mention received for twenty years of international activity carried out as a snowpark, culminating last January with the participation of over 160 under-18 riders from around the world for the World Rookie Fest.
Meanwhile, Nine Knights once again won the best special obstacle award.
As for the regional categories, the Snowpark Area Effe in Pila won the Best Park North West award, Palù Park in Chiesa in Valmalenco won for the Central Alps, Obereggen took the Best Park East Alps award, and finally Swup in Campo Felice won the Best Park Apennines award.
Italian Freeski Awards
As for the Italian Freeski Awards, Markus Eder won the award for best freeskier, and is also a member of the 2016 best team: Volkl. Best Female went once again to Olympian Silvia Bertagna, while Kilian Erik Morone won the award for best rookie. National team coach Valentino Mori was once again named best ambassador of the freeski world for 2016, just like Nine Knights, which despite changing location continues to be the best event in Italy. Best Performance went to Christof Schenk, winner of Nine Knights 2016 and of the best trick award with a triple backflip.
Snowboard Awards
The Snowboard Awards saw Emiliano Lauzi triumph as Best Male, while among the women the most voted was Margherita Meneghetti. Best Rookie went to Vladislav Khadarin, one of the most promising young snowboarders around.
Nitro was named the best Team of the 2015/2016 season, while the best Performance went to Simon Gruber, once again a protagonist at Nine Knights.
The Italian snowboard ambassador for the 2015/2016 season was Igor Confortin, coach of the Italian Paralympic Snowboard National Team.
