ski lift openings

Solda, Ski Lifts Open from November 1

The storm system that caused widespread disruption across Italy in recent days has instead transformed the landscape of the South Tyrolean resort of Solda all’Ortles for the better. With a base elevation close to 2,000 meters and high-altitude lifts exceeding 3,000 m, the ski destination of Solda is ready to kick off the season thanks to heavy snowfalls.

Over 1 meter of fresh snow fell in less than 48 hours at the resort, blanketing the high-altitude lifts—which had previously been snow-free—and more: snow fell all the way down into the valley, covering all the surrounding mountains and completely transforming the atmosphere.

Solda all’Ortles is therefore ready to open its ski lifts for the new 2018/19 season. The chosen date is November 1, which will mark the first day of skiing and coincide with the long holiday weekend.

The heavy snowfalls guarantee excellent skiing across the entire upper section of the ski area, where snow groomers are hard at work preparing the slopes to perfection. This time artificial snowmaking was not even needed, and everything is ready to get back on the pistes with the best snow conditions imaginable.
