Skiing starts in Cortina on Saturday, November 11, as the Col Gallina chairlift opens at Passo Falzarego.
The lift company is bringing forward the official start of the ski season by two weeks on the strength of the recent snowfalls that have completely transformed the landscape.
Above 2,000 meters, nearly 50 cm of snow fell during the latest Atlantic storm—a substantial base that has allowed crews to pack the snowpack and open the first runs in the Dolomites. Starting Saturday, the chairlift at the Col Gallina ski area at Passo Falzarego (2,100 meters above sea level) will be in operation.
Lift operators are hard at work preparing additional runs using both the fresh natural snow and, above all, the snowmaking systems now running across the entire Dolomiti Superski network.
Faloria open from Saturday, November 17
Following the lift opening at Passo Falzarego, it will be the turn of the Faloria Ski Area. One of the very first ski areas in the Dolomites to open each season and the last to close, its snowmaking system has been running for several weeks and the start of the season is now just around the corner.
Skiing on Mount Faloria will resume on Saturday, November 17, making it the third ski area in the Dolomites to open its lifts after Falzarego and Passo Monte Croce.
