40 cm of fresh snow in Asiago: the Verena slopes reopen for April 25

Fabulous news for anyone already suffering from snow withdrawal: the slopes of Asiago (Monte Verena) are reopening after the heavy snowfalls of the last few days!
40 cm of fresh snow in the valley and almost 1 meter at 2,000 m make it possible to reopen the Verena slopes, treating us to an April 25 on skis!
The season that has just ended was a disastrous winter, with an early closure in mid-March, something that hadn’t happened in years. In April (usually warm and sunny) the snow came back, first with light snowfalls and then with real blizzards. Thanks to the low temperatures and the out-of-season snowfalls, Monte Verena (1,600-2,000 m) has piled up more snow than fell during the entire winter, allowing the lifts to open on an exceptional basis.

The lift operator Verena 2000 has informed us that the lifts will be open all day on April 25, 2012, with the central chairlift running and one groomed slope from the top (2,000 m) down to the valley (1,600 m), while the rest of the runs will be open but ungroomed (to the delight of freeriders).
It will certainly be fascinating to ski on April 25 at 1,600 m above sea level with almost half a meter of fresh snow! One last, but fun, day on skis in the middle of spring!
If you, like us, have decided to head up to Asiago tomorrow to ski the Verena slopes, you can download the ski pass discount voucher from this page http://www.mondoneve.it/risorse/sconti-skipass/verena-asiago.html

Happy April 25, everyone!
