Thanks to the low temperatures of the last few days, set to last all week, the Abetone ski area is able to announce the opening of the first lifts on December 22. The Casa Cantoniera-Monte Gomito gondola will come into operation, together with the Zeno 3 slope. Further lift and slope openings are planned for the following days.
In recent days the snow lightly whitened the mountains of the Pistoia Apennines, changing the landscape: just a few centimeters of snow, but enough to bring smiles back. The snowmaking systems are up and running and, thanks to favorable temperatures, are working around the clock to open the ski area in time for the Christmas holidays.
The season seems to be heading in the best direction for the Tuscan ski resort: at last the Apennines too can kick off the 2011/12 ski season!
