She didn’t even have to wait for the last race: American athlete Lindsey Vonn won again at the Sweden stop and took home her fourth Alpine Ski World Cup. Four times on top of the world, a result that propels her straight into skiing history, among the greats, the legends of the white circus.
As in all 52 victories of her career, the American Vonn skied a perfect race; the Swedish snow of Are brought her luck and she pulled off a stunning performance. Already in the lead after the first run, she made it to the top step of the podium with an equally good second run, clinching the title early with 1,808 points against Tina Maze’s 1,254. A crushing victory that confirms once again (as if it were still needed) the talent of the “Stars and Stripes” athlete.
But the Are stop didn’t only bring luck to Vonn: the Italian national team made it onto the podium thanks to a magnificent race by Lombardy’s Brignone, who earned a well-deserved second place.
