Montecampione prepares celebrations for Nadia Fanchini’s return

Nadia Fanchini World Championships silver

nadia fanchini world championships silverAll of Montecampione is eagerly awaiting its champion after the historic silver medal won in the World Championship downhill in Schladming, just 0.16 seconds behind France’s Marion Rolland.
This extraordinary result adds to Nadia’s already impressive list of honours, which includes a bronze medal at the 2009 Val-d’Isère World Championships, 4 Junior World Championship medals, 17 World Cup podiums, 5 European Cup podiums, and several Italian national titles.

Yet between those victories and her latest triumph in Austria, fate tested the strength of the 26-year-old champion from Montecampione with two serious injuries in quick succession that could have ended her career. Nadia got back up and pulled off a remarkable feat, born of the courage and perseverance found only in special people who refuse to give up even in the face of the toughest obstacles.
Starting with bib no. 2, she pushed to the limit, carving flawless lines especially on the lower half of a demanding, icy course that caused several crashes.

Montecampione, bursting with pride, is ready to celebrate her

On Friday, February 15, starting at 8:30 PM at the “Valgrande” residential complex opposite the ski slopes, the Montecampione Ski Area, the Official Fanchini Sisters Fan Club, the Merchants’ Association, and the Municipality of Artogne are organizing a celebratory evening featuring fireworks, music, traditional Camonica Valley cuisine, color, and above all plenty of warmth to honor and celebrate Nadia’s incredible achievement as well as the strong performance of her sister Elena, who finished ninth, while awaiting the return of Sabrina, who is recovering from a knee injury.

Attending the celebration will be the Mayors of Artogne (Gianpietro Cesari) and Pian Camuno (Renato Pietro Pe), the press, the ski clubs active in Montecampione, and above all the entire Montecampione community, eager to embrace their champions who have always remained deeply attached to the mountain that watched them grow up and then carry Italian skiing to the top of the world.
