Big numbers are expected for the Ciaspoleda on Sunday, March 18: the Livigno snowshoe race will see “half a thousand” participants compete in this amateur snowshoeing event. “We are reasonably aiming to exceed 500 entries, because with just a few days to go before the event we already have 450 starters – commented Fabiana Salvadori of the Events office of APT Livigno – and these numbers confirm that the Ciaspoleda is winning the hearts of enthusiasts”.
And not just enthusiasts, because Davide Milesi will also be at the start: the marathon runner from Bergamo (with a long list of successes in ski mountaineering) has found a second youth on snowshoes. Milesi will in fact start with bib number 1 as winner of the last edition and leader of the provisional standings of the “Coppa Lombardia” trilogy, which brings together the main races in the region: after the Caspolada in Vezza d’Oglio on February 4 and the Ciaspalot in Pisogne (BS) on March 3, the Ciaspolèda in Livigno closes the circuit. And if Milesi is the favourite among the men, all eyes are on Mirella Bergamo of Atletica Valsugana who, after finishing second last year, could upset the plans of Longa and Iozzia.
Ahead of the Ciaspoleda, the two courses prepared by the organisers have been confirmed: the 7.5-kilometre course for the competitive race, while two routes of 7.5 and 3 kilometres are planned for the walk.
The race starts at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 18, with start and finish at the Centro Fondo in Livigno, and then everyone heads to Plaza Placheda for the pasta party and the prize-giving.
