After the snowfalls of the past few days, the Alps are getting ready to welcome the white stuff once again!
The first snowflakes will start falling on Monday evening/overnight into Tuesday (October 24-25), with scattered snowfall over all the Alpine ranges from 900 m in Piedmont up to 1,300 m in Trentino.
The disturbance will be intense and will bring heavy showers throughout Tuesday, October 25, but with rising temperatures that will gradually push the snow level up to 1,600 m in the Western Alps and 2,000 m in Trentino Alto Adige.
The heaviest snowfall will be in the Central Alps, especially Lombardy and Trentino, where considerable amounts of snow are expected above 2,500 m.
What is about to arrive could be called “the glacier snowfall”, since it will mainly affect the highest altitudes. Among the resorts most eagerly awaiting the white stuff are the Ghiacciaio Presena (still closed) and the Val Senales glacier, which will open the Nitro snowpark season on October 29 (a bit of fresh snow wouldn’t hurt).
