It seems impossible, but the flow of Arctic air that will sweep away the very long summer we are experiencing will not only bring relief from the heat, but even SNOW.
On Sunday and Monday a temperature drop of more than 10 degrees is forecast across the whole of Italy. The first areas affected by the disturbance will be those in the north-west, after which it will move towards the north-east.
Weather experts are talking about possible snowfall above 1,600 m-1,800 m in the western Alps (Aosta Valley and Piedmont) and snowfall above 2,000 m in Trentino Alto Adige. The snow level will be very variable: in some areas of Trentino the snow is in fact expected to reach down to 1,500 m, while in others the snowfall will only affect peaks above 2,200 m.
The heaviest precipitation will occur during the night between Sunday and Monday, when the mass of cold air will also reach the north-eastern sector of the Alps, effectively lowering the snow level.

coming soon to our mountains
Manna from heaven given the state of the glaciers, and a blessing for the lift operators who feared they would have to delay the opening even of the highest slopes. In fact, the reopening of the ski lifts in Val Senales and in some ski areas beyond the Alps is planned for the first days of October.
A sigh of relief also for the Plateau Rosà and the Ghiacciaio Presena, both hard-pressed by a scorching summer that spared not even the Matterhorn glacier.
The disturbance that will hit Italy over the weekend will be short-lived, but it will put an end to the summer season and usher in an autumn/winter climate.
Get your skis and snowboards ready, here we go again!
