Starting tomorrow, Saturday, December 12, thanks to the opening of slope “no. 5” from Plan Maison and the “Cretaz” chairlift (in the village), skiers will be able to ski all the way down into Cervinia. With these new openings, skiers can now also enjoy the Cretaz ski area, with slope “no. 5” descending from Plan Maison and directly accessible via the “Cretaz” chairlift, an easy walk from the village center.
Equipped starting this year with a programmed snowmaking system, run “5” is an ideal slope not only for beginners (it is rated as a “blue” run) but also for children and anyone looking to ski beneath the Matterhorn—offering a scenic alternative to the Ventina run for skiing back down into Cervinia.
Even though “true” winter is still taking its time, Breuil-Cervinia already offers a substantial network of open slopes and lifts. In addition to the village sector, skiing is open at Plan Maison, where the “Plan Maison,” “Fornet,” and “Bontadini” chairlifts serve runs suited to every preference and skill level. From Plateau Rosà (where the international link with Zermatt is open), skiers can descend the Ventina run down to Cime Bianche Laghi, where the “Goillet” chairlift and “Gran Sometta” surface lift are operating for the (open) link with Valtournenche. In Valtournenche, most lifts and slopes are open, along with the “Wild West Zone” snow playground. Also skiable is the “Gran Pista di Valtournenche,” which lets you ski all the way down to the village at the base of the “Valtournenche-Salette” gondola.
Daily skipass Italy (Cervinia-Valtournenche): €36; International (Cervinia-Valtournenche-Zermatt): €53.
