Temperatures Drop, Dolomiti Superski Starts Shooting Snow

The cannons have started firing, but this is not the beginning of a new war: it is the prelude to the 2011/2012 ski season!
With the drop in temperatures of the past few days, caused by a flow of icy air coming from the Balkans, the ski resorts have been plunged into a wintry climate, with temperatures well below zero and widespread frost even at low altitudes.
What better opportunity to offer a taste of the coming winter season?
That must have been the question they asked themselves at Dolomiti Superski, leading them to switch on some of the snowmaking systems. The snow guns have started doing their job, and so the first piles of artificial snow have appeared on the more than 1,000 km of ski slopes of the huge ski area.

Dolomiti Superski is no stranger to this kind of initiative: last year, too, the snowmaking systems in Val Gardena started running with the first cold spell.

This is probably not the start of the snowmaking programme; it is more likely a dress rehearsal. In any case, Dolomiti Superski is reminding us that winter is just around the corner and it is time to get our skis and snowboards ready!
