It seems incredible, but even though we are right in the middle of April, it keeps snowing across Italian and international mountains!
After a snow-starved winter, spring is giving us plenty to smile about, even if only a limited number of ski resorts remain open. Nevertheless, ahead of Easter several ski areas have extended their season, giving ski and snowboard enthusiasts one last holiday on the snow.
This year’s late Easter also makes it possible to find hotels and apartments at affordable prices; in fact, we have dedicated a full article to this: best last-minute deals for Easter 2019 (with skipass included)
Below are the resorts with lifts open for Easter:
Italian Alps
In the Italian Alps, many ski areas have taken advantage of the heavy snowfalls to extend their lift operations—and in some cases even reopen.
Valle d’Aosta
In Valle d’Aosta, the ski areas of La Thuile, Courmayeur, Pila, and Cervinia will keep their lifts open. Especially in La Thuile and Cervinia, winter delivered good snow conditions without any major snow-cover issues, and now with the fresh snowfalls the runs are ready to welcome Easter holidaymakers.

Piedmont
Leading the way in Piedmont is Alagna, with its slopes at the foot of Monte Rosa. At this time of year, skiing moves up to high altitude where snow is never in short supply!
Slopes also remain open as long as snow permits in the small but tenacious resort of Prali, whereas the Olympic ski areas have unfortunately already closed for the season.

Trentino
In Trentino, skiing continues above all on the slopes of Madonna di Campiglio, which are back in top shape thanks to recent snowfalls, with skiing open on the Grostè.
Another Trentino valley open through Easter is Val di Fiemme, where two ski resorts remain open: Latemar and Alpe Cermis. Easter will be the grand finale of the season for this destination between the Dolomites and the Lagorai chain.

Alto Adige
Usually Alto Adige does not extend its ski season this late, but thanks to a favorable winter and modern snowmaking systems, many ski areas will be open this Easter.
The great classics are Solda all’Ortles and Val Senales thanks to their high altitude, joined by Plan de Corones, which is effectively the only South Tyrolean resort in Dolomiti Superski still open. A welcome surprise is the opening of smaller ski resorts such as Speikboden, Racines, and Gitschberg Jochtal, which are usually closed at this time of year. Lifts are also open in the Passo Resia area.

In Friuli, meanwhile, super-snowy Sella Nevea will keep its lifts running for Easter.
