Mild weather and a lack of natural snow affected the traditional late-November curtain-raiser, but thanks to intensive work over the past few weeks—with programmed snowmaking systems running at full capacity—the November 28 opening date has been met. Confirmed for Saturday are the openings of the Amerikan surface lift and the Trepalle slope on the Mottolino side, while the possible opening of the Tagliede run on the Carosello 3000 side is being finalized (with confirmation expected by tomorrow).
For cross-country skiing, the loop on the central valley floor—covered by programmed snowmaking—is open, where several National Teams have already been training for weeks ahead of the first international races of the season. The artificial-snow cross-country track has drawn scores of Nordic skiing enthusiasts to Livigno, giving them the chance to ski alongside the champions and test the new technical gear for the 2015/2016 season.
