Sellaronda opens, the 4-pass tour open in both directions from December 17

Sella Ronda Dolomites

sella ronda dolomitesA very difficult start to winter for Italian ski resorts, locked in a constant battle with rain and above-average temperatures. Even the magnificent Dolomites were not spared by weather determined to hinder the start of the season in every way; nevertheless, despite the adverse conditions, thanks to the dedication of staff and modern artificial snowmaking systems, many ski resorts in the UNESCO World Heritage mountains kicked off their ski season a few weeks ago.
Now comes the news most eagerly awaited by all snow lovers: tomorrow the Sella Tour (Sella Ronda) opens.
Dolomiti Superski announces that starting tomorrow, Wednesday, December 17, the Sellaronda will be open in both directions. Only on the Salei-Belvedere section between Passo Sella and Val di Fassa is the descent into the valley served by the respective gondola lifts, while waiting to complete snowmaking on the lower-altitude slopes. The gap is expected to be closed within a few days ahead of the December 19-21 weekend.

In addition to artificial snowmaking, a bit of natural snow has also fallen in recent hours, although so far confined to medium-high altitudes. Another weather system is also expected around December 20, which could bring snow down to the valley floor as well.
