Last minute holidays: skiing in Italy over the All Saints’ Day weekend

It is time to officially welcome the winter season: it matters little that the calendar still points to autumn, because thanks to the start of the Alpine Ski World Cup, the desire to treat oneself to a snow holiday has erupted in full force. And temperatures are certainly helping winter enthusiasts. In fact, it is already possible to head to Italian ski resorts and enjoy the first runs; but which places are best to visit right now? Together we will find out where to go to finally embrace the start of the coldest time of the year.

Let’s start with Solda all’Ortles (municipality of Stelvio in Val Venosta), where the lifts opened their doors on October 22 with excellent snow conditions, and Cervinia (mountain resort in the municipality of Valtournenche) where starting from October 29 the season will begin in the pearl of the Aosta Valley: the ski area will be open every day until May 1, 2017 (for now, skiing is available on Plateau Rosà only).

In Val Senales on the other hand, the winter period started back on September 2: currently, three slopes and a 5.2 km cross-country loop are available. Starting from October 28, the runs on the Gletschersee will also open: if you choose this destination for your trip to the snow, an autumn package is offered allowing you to spend 5 days for the price of 4. In this way, for 238 euros you will also get a one-day ski pass and the opportunity to rent equipment free of charge.

Meanwhile, only a little time remains to ski at Passo dello Stelvio open to the public until November 1. With the All Saints’ Day long weekend approaching, there will be plenty of special offers to visit Passo dello Stelvio: from October 29 to November 1, in fact, the new edition of Pirovano Winter Party, which over the 4-day program offers a full immersion in skiing, snowboarding, parties, music events, and après-ski, will take place. All starting from 195 euros.

Those who prefer narrow cross-country skis should head to Livigno: the one-kilometer cross-country track located in the central plain of the town is already open. There is no shortage of options—all that remains is to decide which choice suits you best.
