The Ktrak, a “tracked bicycle” of Canadian origin, is a modified mountain bike transformed into a mini snowcat, with the front wheel replaced by a ski blade and the rear wheel toothed and fitted with a track. The very concept of the bicycle has been completely revolutionized so as to adapt entirely to snow-covered slopes, to be tackled riding a saddle.
Mont Blanc Adventure is the first to launch the Ktrak in the Aosta Valley, also choosing a particularly fun format: every Friday evening at 5:30 PM, you can challenge your friends in full-fledged Ktrak Contests—parallel downhill races—equipped with a full-face helmet, goggles, and motocross chest protector. The venue for the initiative is the floodlit slopes of the Dolonne Fun Park, equipped with magic carpets for the ascent. For everyone, winners and losers alike, the final prize: unlimited mulled wine and a participation souvenir. Appropriate clothing is recommended for everyone, with ski wear or fleece pants, trekking shoes, hat, and gloves.
More surprises also await those who love pedaling on the snow with regular mountain bikes to fully enjoy the silence of nature, discover animal tracks and vegetation, leaving haste and chaos behind, thanks to the snowbike. For the first time this year, Mont Blanc Adventure offers not only evening itineraries, but also daytime “pedal excursions”. Every day, setting out in the morning from the hamlet of Planpincieux (1580 m), it is possible to ride along Val Ferret, one of Courmayeur’s two side valleys, an enchanting gateway towards Switzerland with views of the Grandes Jorasses, the Mont Blanc range, and Col Ferret. The route winds along the Dora di Ferret stream, which gently accompanies cyclists for a couple of hours up to Lavachey (1650 m), 8 km away.
