Over the past 2 days we have witnessed a storm system bringing cold and snow to our Alps.
Not the entire Alpine arc was affected by this weather system; in fact, snow was seen in the eastern part of the Alps, particularly in Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia.
From the webcams you can see snow covering Plan de Corones, Tarvisio and Sella Nevea, while other Dolomite resorts also woke up under a light white blanket.
At high altitude, more specifically on the Stelvio, the snowfall was heavy and intense; on the Stelvio precipitation has been frequent over the last 2 weeks and this will probably force an early closure of the pass, as the latest snowfall was accompanied by bitter cold that made the access road almost impassable.
Low temperatures are forecast for next week, which will allow the snow to last in many resorts.
This weather system has delighted ski resorts, which have in fact started thinking about a possible early opening of their lifts, also thanks to weather forecasts pointing to an early winter.
We will see how the situation develops.
