In recent days, snow has fallen both at high altitude, covering the peaks, and in town, where it welcomed the first tourists who came up to Asiago to visit the Christmas market. Hardest hit by this weather front was once again SkiArea Verena, which with its ski lifts starting at an altitude of 1600m is the highest on the entire Plateau.
There are about 30 centimeters of snow on the ground and temperatures are well below freezing—an excellent sign that has allowed artificial snowmaking to begin so as to build up a more solid snowpack and groom the first slopes.
In addition to the snow that has already fallen in recent hours, a new weather front is on its way that will bring further snowfalls with snow even at low altitudes on both Tuesday, December 4 and Friday, December 7.
The favorable weather conditions have enabled the Verena Ski company to schedule the opening of the ski lifts for Thursday, December 6, effectively kicking off the ski season in time for the Immaculate Conception long weekend.
This winter, Monte Verena returns as the benchmark for skiing on the Plateau and, weather permitting, one of the snowiest resorts in Veneto, just like in the 2008/2009 winter when a remarkable 10 meters of snow were recorded at high altitude (2020m)!
