At 1:45 PM, after a brief clearing, the technical officials decided to restart the race and the skiers returned to the course, but soon the glacier was hit by heavy snowfall that made the final runs very difficult, leading to several exits such as those of Tessa Worley and Lindsey Vonn.
The Italian team had started well with a solid performance by Irene Curtoni, though in the following runs several athletes overtook the Italian, leaving her in 8th place at the end of the race. Starting from 5th place after the first run, Denise Karbon also skied well, coming down under heavy snow that hampered her run somewhat and left her tied in 8th place.
Meanwhile, Federica Brignone and Nadia Fanchini went out.
Dominating everyone was Tina Maze, winning the first run and claiming a commanding victory in the second run with a superlative performance. The Slovenian had to tackle the final run under heavy snowfall that just moments earlier had knocked out big names like Vonn and Worley, yet despite this she skied down calmly, avoiding unnecessary risks while delivering a very strong run. In the end, there was nothing her rivals could do: Maze beat everyone and claimed the top step of the podium with an extraordinary performance.
