It was a magical weekend for Italian skiing, with great results that took the Azzurri athletes to the top of the world.
Federica Brignone, a 22-year-old skier from Lombardy, made the podium at Kranjska Gora (SLO), finishing in second place behind France’s Tessa Worley and ahead of Germany’s Rebensburg.
A great race that puts the young skier back on the podium after spending a few days with the flu, and brings her within touching distance of the victory she longs for. After the race she said she was satisfied with her performance, commenting: “I’m happy, when I saw that the slope was icy I realised I could do well. It’s my second podium of the season and the third time I’ve finished second: sooner or later it will be my turn too.”

First place for Deville in Kitzbuehel, something that had not happened for 17 years

A result worth framing for Italy’s Cristian Deville, who took the victory in Kitzbuehel (AU), the first win of his career.

A spectacular second run allowed him to move ahead of everyone, a perfect descent that let him win the race on the slope where until now only Alberto Tomba, in 1995 and 1992, and Piero Gros, in 1975, had triumphed. 17 years have passed since the last victory on this slope, and the athlete from Val di Fassa managed to bring Italy back to the top step of the podium in Kitzbuehel.
Big celebrations in the ski world, and especially in Val di Fassa, where everyone celebrated the great performance of the athlete from Trentino.

It was a weekend that gave all ski fans plenty of thrills! Forza Azzurri, always!
