The Snowboard World Cup in Carezza

After the cancellation of some races in early December due to the lack of snow, the adrenaline of top-level racing has returned to Carezza, in Trentino Alto Adige, in the coming.
The four Snowboard World Cup races were in fact held between Wednesday, December 21 and Thursday, December 22, 2011, on the Pra-di-Tori piste.
For Italy the races brought great satisfaction and much joy, above all thanks to the victory on Wednesday, December 21, of Roland Fischnaller, who won the gold medal in the men’s parallel giant slalom.
During training the athlete had said: “I know this piste very well, it is really very steep and demanding. On skis I reached 150 km/h on this slope. It’s going to be fun and we hope to do the best we can”.
The Italian kept his word, bringing home an important result, given that technical director Cesare Pisoni had also stated: “In slalom we are the team to beat, but the giant slalom can also give us some satisfaction”.

The Italian team that took part in the Snowboard World Cup races was made up of 4 women and 5 men.
Competing for the women were: Tribus, Ochner, Egger and Boccacini, just back from the American trip.
For the men, on the other hand, those on the snow were: Fischnaller, March, Erlacher, Mick and Coratti, who make up the World Cup team.

Regarding the missed result in the parallel slalom, from which a lot was expected, Roland Fischnaller said: “I felt the fatigue from yesterday’s race a little and made a mistake that cost me the race. A pity, because important results were within reach today. I will prepare as well as I can for the next races in Austria and Switzerland and I will try to take on Karl in every competition. Now he knows I can win in the giant and he fears me a little more“.

Overall, then, the Carezza races brought an unexpected and wonderful victory for Roland Fischnaller, no result in a race Italy was sure of winning, a seventh place for Boccacini among the women and a little disappointment for March, who only finished eleventh.
