where to go skiing

In Vorarlberg, snow made to measure for children

What better opportunity for families than to be together and spend some time in the snow, finding good-value prices, child-friendly services and suitable facilities?
In Austria, in the Vorarlberg area, the Vorarlberger Familienclub (Vorarlberg Family Club) has been set up, bringing together hotels and guesthouses of various kinds, resorts and tourist areas that offer family- and child-friendly initiatives, activities and facilities at affordable prices.
This is precisely because the needs of a family that decides to spend a few days in the snow are very specific and are not always met on the slopes and lifts.

At the Kinderclub Lech, Zürs and Oberlech, children aged between 2 and 5 find a world entirely dedicated to them. With games, fun and arts and crafts, even the youngest can learn to ski in complete safety on the dedicated slopes of the Kinderparadies and at the practice drag lift.

The Sonnenkopf family ski area in the Klostertal, on the other hand, is very good value for families: children up to the age of 8 can ski for free and also visit Schneemannland, the Land of Snowmen, where they can play and have fun while the grown-ups tackle the more challenging slopes.

At the Schneesport-schule Au-Schoppernau in the Bregenzerwald, meanwhile, there is a winter sports school where children aged 3-4 practise at the Kinderland by the valley station, while older children can go snowboarding and try out various snow toys (tubing, skidoo…).
During breaks from sport, lovely fairy tales are told to the little ones, while the older children learn to cook sausages in the tepee.

In Warth-Schröcken there are two winter playgrounds for kids. At Paulis Kinderland, by the Kitzeliftle lifts, children learn to ski through play: they glide past fairy-tale figures, ride back up on the magic carpet and learn to move on the snow naturally and with plenty of fun.
By the valley station of the Salober cable car, meanwhile, there is the Fairy Tale Land, where children can let off steam on a trampoline, an obstacle course, a practice lift and a magic carpet.

In addition to all these facilities, in various parts of Vorarlberg there are partner hotels and guesthouses for families that offer special deals for children, as well as many services that allow parents to ski with peace of mind while qualified childcarers and instructors look after the youngest children.

You can also book private ski lessons for children, sign them up for the ski Miniclub, or leave them to play and have fun at the many free services.

You can find out much more by asking for further information at vacanze@austria.info , but one thing is certain: Vorarlberg really does offer the chance to enjoy the snow in a way that suits the whole family.
