First lift opening in the Dolomites, skiing resumes on the Faloria-Cortina slopes

Faloria Cortina

Faloria CortinaThe ski season in the Dolomites begins on Saturday, November 29 with the opening of the ski lifts in the Faloria Ski Area. Located in the famous Cortina d’Ampezzo ski resort, the Faloria ski area traditionally kicks off the ski season ahead of other Dolomite ski areas, welcoming the first skiers who choose to ski in the UNESCO World Heritage Mountains.
The lifts will open on Saturday as long scheduled, even though until just a few days ago there were fears that the season would have to be postponed due to adverse weather conditions—above all a temperature inversion—that put slope preparation to the test.
On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November 2014 starting at 8:00 AM, it’s back to the slopes: skiers and snowboarders will be able to ride up on the Faloria cable car and ski on the Tondi slope and the Faloria Normale slope down to the Vitelli chairlift.
This will be a special weekend opening, with lifts closed during the first days of next week before reopening non-stop starting December 5, 2014.

To ski in the other resorts of the Dolomites, visitors will have to wait a little longer: for now snow conditions are not ideal, but hopes are pinned on the arrival of snowstorms capable of bringing back winter and kicking off the 2014/15 ski season.
