2020 UPDATE: Lifts Closed in Dolomiti Superski Due to Coronavirus
The Easter holidays have now passed and spring is getting ready to take over from a winter that has felt endless. Mountains across Italy are covered in meters of snow starting from medium-low elevations, the result of a remarkable winter season in terms of both snowfall and temperatures.
Despite excellent slope conditions and an abundance of snow—surpassing 2 meters in several areas of the Dolomites—the giant Dolomiti Superski area has already begun closing its lifts.
Of the 12 ski areas in the Dolomites, Civetta Ski was the first to wrap up its ski season, officially closing on April 1; for most areas, April 7 will be the last day to carve up the snow of the Dolomites, while other ski areas will close in the middle of the month.
The last to close will be the Faloria ski area in Cortina d’Ampezzo: thanks to its 3,000-meter altitude and nearly 2 meters of snow, the season will continue until May 1, welcoming die-hard skiers determined to keep skiing right up to the doorstep of summer.
