Aprica prepares for the 2015 Gran Premio Giovanissimi Final

Aprica Gran Premio Giovanissimi 2015 final

aprica gran premio giovanissimi 2015 finalFrom April 10 to 12, 2015, Aprica (SO) will host the eagerly awaited final of the 38th Gran Premio Giovanissimi – SILVER©CARE Trophy, the culmination of what is considered the most important Italian event dedicated to young skiing talents. According to the rules, the top fifteen boys and girls in the 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 age categories from the various regional qualifiers (13 in total) automatically qualify for the coveted Final.

From April 14 to 16, Aprica will also host the 49th Italian Ski and Snowboard Instructors Championship: an AMSI sporting event whose DNA embodies values such as healthy competition (the technical level of participants is always high) and fun. The Italian Instructors Championship allows colleagues and friends to spend a few days together once the winter season has ended, alongside the desire to challenge one another, pitting younger generations against more “experienced” ones.

Lombardy—and specifically the resort of Aprica—is therefore gearing up for a great week dedicated to winter sports, with the organizing team working tirelessly to ensure two outstanding editions. Here are some details.

THE ORGANIZING MACHINE

There is no doubt that attendance generated by the Gran Premio Giovanissimi final is substantial, which is why the largest share of financial and human resources has been channeled toward this event compared to the Italian Instructors Championship, which will nonetheless involve the entire Aprica community. At the Gran Premio, 1,560 children are automatically qualified for the Alpine Skiing races, joined by participants in the Nordic Skiing and Snowboard (exhibition) events, accompanied by parents, coaches, and friends. In short, a festive crowd of snow lovers will fill Aprica, a resort that

for months has been organizing to provide all the necessary support. For instance, all hotel and accommodation management has been entrusted to the local Hoteliers Association, which will handle requests centrally thanks to dedicated staff and a custom booking platform. Support is also provided by the Valtellina Terziere Superiore Tourism Consortium.

The Municipality of Aprica has made available the Sports Hall, the Administrative Center, and the tennis area, and will handle the decorations for the parade along Corso Roma (Friday, April 10 at 5:00 PM) as well as side entertainment.

There is also broad involvement from local public services such as the Local Police, Fire Brigade, and Red Cross, alongside volunteer groups: the Alpini, CAI, CSI, Coro Aprica, the local Marching Band, Sci Club Aprica, Ski Team Aprica, and GB Ski School. Naturally, key support will also come from the local Italian Ski and Snowboard School of Aprica, which will provide over 60 instructors to manage the technical side of the races.

Statement by the Mayor of Aprica, Carla Cioccarelli

“I am particularly delighted to greet and welcome each of the participants to the finals of the 38th edition of the Gran Premio Giovanissimi and the 49th Italian Instructors Championship. Aprica is proud to host at its very best, at the end of the 2014/15 ski season, two such important competitive events—repeating the success of the outstanding 2001 edition. The great slopes of our ski area, particularly those of Palabione and Magnolta, are ready to host the packed series of competitions, just as all of Aprica is eager to welcome so many young athletes and snow professionals. I thank the entire national AMSI represented by its president Maurizio Bonelli, as well as AMSI Lombardy president Luciano Stampa, Aprica Ski School director Fabrizio Ricetti, and everyone who has helped prepare the event and will make every effort to ensure it runs splendidly, living up to everyone’s expectations. Best of luck to all the athletes!”
