Presena Glacier ski lift opening

presena glacier lifts openingAt last the wait is over and winter has arrived on the Presena Glacier; a few weeks behind schedule, the ski season is getting back underway on the glacier of the Adamello Ski area thanks to the new weather front sweeping across the Alps.

The first snowfall of the season had brought only a few snowflakes and bitter cold—freezing temperatures that were not enough to prepare the slopes, as the minimum natural base needed to begin grooming the runs was lacking.

Now the snow has arrived in abundance at high altitude, and thanks to its elevation of 3,000 meters, the Presena Glacier has once again put on its winter coat, ready to welcome thousands of skiers during the 2014/15 winter season.
According to weather forecasts, once the clouds leave the Alps, the Presena will be able to count on over 1 meter of fresh snow and several dozen centimeters at Passo del Tonale as well, where snow has returned after yesterday afternoon’s rain.

The news of the lift opening comes directly from the ADAMELLO SKI Tourist Board via a Facebook post:

The long-awaited snowfall has arrived: starting Saturday it will be possible to ski on the Presena Glacier from 8 am to 3 pm

So starting Saturday, November 8, skiing returns to the snows of the Adamello from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm.

All that remains is to get our skis ready and head up to the Presena to kick off the new season. Happy Snow to everyone!
