A drop in temperatures had been forecast, with snowfall to follow, which should finally have allowed all the ski lifts to open as early as the first weekend of December.
Instead, this season seems unwilling to satisfy all those who love snow and all the operators of lifts and mountain accommodation.
In fact, temperatures remain high and precipitation has only fallen above 2,000 metres.
The Brembo Ski San Simone – Foppolo – Carona ski area has therefore also joined the long list of resorts that have postponed the start of the season. The excessively high temperatures of the past few days prevented the production of artificial snow; only on Monday did temperatures drop, allowing the snowmaking plan to get under way.
While until last week an opening for the St Ambrose and Immaculate Conception long weekends seemed plausible – the first real winter holiday period for many Italians, who are ready to invade the slopes and lifts – as of today the situation makes opening impossible.
However, the snow guns are firing non-stop, and if temperatures stay low a partial opening by the weekend is not ruled out. However, nothing is a given, and so

Foppolo without snow
Despite this delay, however, the BremboSki ski area awaits skiers with lots of new features for this 2011-2012 winter.
In Carona the brand-new Carona “Carisole – Conca Nevosa” detachable four-seater chairlift will be in operation, replacing the now ageing Terre Rosse A, Terre Rosse B and Conca Nevosa drag lifts.
In Foppolo, on the other hand, a new kinderheim will be inaugurated, which is being completed right now. This new area, entirely dedicated to children, will therefore be located at Foppelle, and the little ones will be able to have fun there in complete safety. It will be an amusement park that will completely change the look of the ski resort, making it in every respect similar to the beginners’ areas of Austrian ski resorts.
Everything is therefore ready on the slopes of all the resorts of our Alpine arc to offer tourists, skiers, enthusiasts and families services, entertainment, events, state-of-the-art slopes and much, much more. All that’s missing is the snow.
