Snow nearly reached the hills of northern Italy, while the Apennines also welcomed their first snow of the season. All ski resorts across northern Italy were blanketed in white.
October 28 Snowfall Report and Snow Bulletin
Snow fell in Cervinia, Pila, and across the entire Monterosa Ski area, where it snowed heaviest on Sunday night. Snow fell in Piedmont at very low elevations, even blanketing the town center of Tirano at 400 meters in altitude, along with excellent snowfalls of 20–30 cm across all high-altitude ski areas such as Bardonecchia, Sestriere, and Sauze d’Oulx.

Snow also hit Lombardy, with 10 cm of snow in Foppolo, 20–30 cm in Livigno and Lizzola (at high altitude), and 30–40 cm in Santa Caterina Valfurva. Heavy snow also fell on the Presena Glacier, where snow depth at high altitude has very likely reached one meter.
Nearly 100 cm of snow also fell on the high-altitude slopes of the Stelvio, considering that up to 80 cm of fresh snow fell at the Pass.
Snow also fell in Trentino Alto Adige, with heavy snowfalls on the glaciers. Snow reports record 40 cm on the Val Senales Glacier and 50 cm in Solda, while 10 to 30 cm of snow fell in the other resorts (20 cm of snow fell in Folgaria at 1,600 m).
Heavy snowfalls also hit Veneto, where snow pushed down to the Veneto Prealps, brushing the hills below. Snow fell in Cortina, in the Agordino area, and on the Asiago plateau, where 20 cm of snow fell on the slopes of Monte Verena and the town center of Asiago woke up under a white blanket of snow. Abundant snow fell especially in Arabba, where it never stopped snowing both in the valley and at high altitude.

Snow also reached Friuli Venezia Giulia, where temperatures dropped as low as -7 degrees at 2,000 m in altitude. In the Tarvisio area, around 20 cm were recorded at high altitude and just under 5 cm in the valley.
First snow in the Apennines
Not just the Alps, but the Apennines as well: the first snowfall of the year for central Italy’s mountain range. Snow began falling yesterday afternoon, blanketing the Tuscan-Emilian ski areas in white before moving south to blanket Abruzzo as well. While in Tuscany 5 to 15 cm of fresh snow were recorded, in Abruzzo snow did not exceed 10 cm, though considering the time of year that is already plenty.

In some resorts the sun has already come out, while in others it is still snowing; we therefore recommend checking both the snow webcams and the lift openings page, as this latest snowfall could lead to new ski lift openings.
