It has been an endless, frustrating wait for skiers and snowboarders over recent weeks, with several ski resorts not having seen a single snowflake in a full 2 months.
Hopes of a white Christmas have also faded due to the persistent high-pressure system that has held the winter season hostage for far too long.
Now, however, encouraging news is beginning to emerge… Will the New Year bring us the gift of long-awaited SNOW?
The turning point could arrive right in the first days of January 2016, when several weather models suggest the high-pressure ridge may finally break down and give way to Atlantic storm systems, bringing snow back to the mountains and rain to the plains.
Through Christmas, conditions will remain unchanged with above-average temperatures and no snow, but starting around New Year’s Day frigid air could move in followed by snow, restoring a winter that has been missing for far too long.
We wholeheartedly hope the weather turns around with the arrival of the New Year—it would be a wonderful gift for everyone, allowing the ski season to take off at last and curing the snow withdrawal we have all been suffering from.
