Report from Modena: All Set for Skipass 2015

Today we at MondoNeve headed down to Modena to set up our booth in Hall A and took a tour of the fairgrounds to see first-hand how preparations are progressing and what Skipass 2015 has in store.

Hall A was buzzing with activity as dozens of booths put the finishing touches on their displays ahead of the gates opening tomorrow, Thursday, October 29 at 9:30 a.m. In this institutional hall—home to pillars of the ski and snowboard world such as FISI and AMSI—the leading Italian and international ski destinations are all represented.
All of Trentino is present with its classic wooden pavilion, alongside the regions of Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna, and Valle d’Aosta, as well as several of the most important ski areas in Alto Adige—such as Plan de Corones, Klausberg, Racines, and Sesto Pusteria—plus Corvatsch, Airolo, Stubai, and the ski resorts of Valtellina along the central aisle.

Outside Hall B stood a plaza lined with brand-new AUDI cars ready to be handed over to the athletes of the Italian national team (who will be attending the show on both Thursday and Friday)—here is a photo:

Hall B, meanwhile, is dedicated to freestyle, freeride, and outdoor sports, with numerous snowparks represented—including F-TECH, which builds and maintains Italy’s top snowparks, as well as Mottolino, Folgarida, Campiglio, and Folgaria (unveiling its new Ortesino park)—alongside a wide range of technical gear shops.
Indoor interactive zones were also being readied, including Burton’s Kids Snowboard Park and the Bouldering Area.

Next, we walked through the outdoor arena—the heart of the action at Modena Skipass: plenty of real snow is already in place, with shapers hard at work dialing in the freestyle contest setup, crews preparing the snow ski slope complete with a magic carpet lift to the top, and the ice skating rink ready to go.

In short, just a few hours remain until Modena Skipass kicks off! The 2015 edition is about to begin, and our preview tour leaves no doubt that this year’s show will be another great spectacle.
