The incredible Photos of the Record Snowfall in Abruzzo and Molise

Majelletta Ski AreaWhile the sun shone over the Alps and ski slopes filled with ski and snowboard enthusiasts, in central Italy a snowstorm dumped meters of snow on the main ski resorts of the Abruzzo and Molise Apennines.
A storm so intense that it cut off many mountain villages, brought the transport network to a standstill, and caused power line disruptions due to numerous trees collapsing under the weight of the snow, in addition to ski resorts closing for snow clearing and slope safety operations—scenes very similar to those witnessed last year in resorts such as Madesimo and Cortina.

Among the hardest hit are Ovindoli, Prati di Tivo, Campo Imperatore, Campo Felice, Scanno, and above all the Passolanciano-Majelletta ski area and Capracotta (Molise), where nearly 3 meters of fresh snow fell.

Here are fantastic photos of the snowfall that hit the Apennines in recent days:

Now the snow emergency has subsided and these ski areas have already reopened their doors, with tons of snow to continue the ski season in the best possible way!
