The Alta Quota 2013 Fair has once again proven to be a hit, and in its tenth edition it set an attendance record with a 22% increase over last season, drawing a total turnout of no fewer than 47,000 visitors across the 3 days of the event.
The format combining a rich indoor exhibition area with an equally dynamic outdoor area dedicated to outdoor sports disciplines is the key ingredient behind the success of this event for mountain lovers, firmly establishing it as a benchmark gathering for the mountain and outdoor sports sector.
In this tenth edition too, a huge number of companies, ski areas, tourist resorts, associations, and boards promoted and showcased their activities, offering enthusiasts great ideas both for the winter season and for experiencing the mountains year-round.
Thanks to the debut of well-known tourist destinations such as the ski areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Val Senales, and Plan de Corones, this year’s already extensive tourism offering expanded even further. The same was true for the technical gear sector, which saw the presence of the leading commercial brands.
An extraordinary success was also scored by the outdoor area with a record-breaking setup featuring 8 activities open to the public—from mountain biking to the ice skating rink, from the dry ski slope to Nordic walking, and from the adventure park to this year’s novelty, slacklining, which, like every new attraction, was a massive crowd-pleaser.
Alta Quota allowed countless visitors to get acquainted with these disciplines and try them out completely free of charge!
Turnout was also strong at the Meeting Point area, which hosted a succession of great athletes representing the world of skiing and extreme mountaineering, sharing firsthand accounts of great adventures experienced in person.
Equally popular was the mouthwatering Orobic Polenta Taragna Alpine Village, which allowed visitors to taste not only the signature dish, but also some of the finest food and wine specialties of the Lombard Prealps and Alps that pair wonderfully with polenta taragna: from cured meats to cheeses, Bergamo truffles, and excellent local craft beers and wines.
Tourism, outdoor sports, and traditional flavors: over its first 10 years, Alta Quota has represented the world of the mountains at its very best, and this 2013 edition was the icing on the cake of a long string of successes!
