It is called Interalpin and it is Europe’s largest trade fair dedicated to the ski lift and mountain technology sector. Originally launched as a small showcase for ropeway, snowmaking, and over-snow mobility companies, today this event is the benchmark gathering for all mountain industry professionals working in ski lifts and snow equipment. Every two years, Interalpin presents the latest trends and spotlights the most innovative products. The results are extraordinary, with the event’s steady growth reflected in impressive figures such as 19,500 visitors from 70 countries and 600 exhibiting companies from 40 different nations (figures from the 2011 edition).
The new edition will take place at the revamped Innsbruck Exhibition Center (Austria), a state-of-the-art venue hosting companies from all over the world. Visitors will be able to discover the latest innovations in snowmaking systems, cableway transport, slope control and safety systems, communication tools for lift staff, and classic “tools of the trade” such as Snowcats and Snowmobiles.
Alongside the major presence of industry leaders such as Leitner and Doppelmayr—benchmarks in the chairlift and gondola sector—other companies such as PistenBully (snowcats) and Alpina Snowmobiles (snowmobiles) will also take center stage; in fact, Alpina Snowmobiles will unveil several new products at this edition of InterAlpin, including an innovative snowmobile tiller system that makes it possible to groom cross-country ski trails without using heavy machinery. The Vicenza-based company’s innovative system was successfully put to the test at the 2013 Masters World Cup of Cross-Country Skiing on the Asiago Plateau, where the use of Alpina snowmobiles enabled fast, efficient trail grooming despite scarce snow—an operation that would have been impossible with heavier vehicles.
InterAlpin will take place in Innsbruck from Wednesday, April 10 to Friday, April 12; for more information, you can visit the official website InterAlpin.at
