From September 30 to October 2 the Mountains return to the city. To be precise, to the Fiera di Bergamo, to bring to life Alta Quota, the event organized by Promoberg dedicated to mountain tourism and sports. The eighth welcome return of AQ offers all enthusiasts of the sector an even larger and more complete area, a true big “Outdoor” village. In fact, besides the fun side guaranteed for experts and beginners alike, AQ’s side events also have a strong educational value. A great many people, thanks to the valuable advice and under the watchful eye of industry professionals and the federal instructors on hand, have the chance to try their hand at the various sports disciplines for the first time.
“There are really a lot of new features at AQ 2011, and they concern the events in particular – emphasizes Alessandro Pagnoni, Promoberg’s manager for the event -. We have brought in a new organization, Baz Snow Race (supported by Lizzola SKI), for a series of activities in the outdoor area that will certainly not disappoint visitors. But the new features also concern orienteering, a discipline that is winning over a growing share of enthusiasts, for which we have made available, again in the outdoor area, more than 400 square meters of space. There are also new arrivals for roller skis and the 3D ski simulator while, given the great success of past editions, the following have been confirmed in full: nordic walking, Big Air Bag, Bmx, Bike trial, Adventure Park, trail running, both free and sport climbing, and Rail Contest. “As far as the Rail Contest is concerned – explains Pagnoni – in the Free Style Credito Bergamasco indoor area, on Saturday and Sunday the best snowboard and free ski riders will go head to head: amid the thousand tricks on show, the adrenaline will also rise thanks to the music of the DJ Set and a really rich program of entertainment”.
Baz Snow Race, with the support of Lizzola SKI, has put together “Orobie Action Games” for AQ2011, a new format of outdoor disciplines with a truly exciting menu.
“Orobie Action Games – explains Paolo Vigani, head of Baz Snow Race and director of Lizzola Sci – translates for the tens of thousands of AQ visitors into a series of activities run in the outdoor area, ranging from skiing to snowboarding, from free style to the Big Air Bag. For our part, the absolute novelty is the Big Air Bag “Revolution”, thanks to which visitors can experience the thrill of throwing themselves in a “swan dive” from a height of ten meters. But there will certainly be no shortage of excitement along the 200 meters of dirt track created for trail running and mountain bikes (which can be rented free of charge), which will be the setting for a new sprint race presented by Scott Italia.. Except for the times reserved for demonstrations and competitions, the Big Air Bag, ski, snowboard free style, mountain bike track and Big Air Bag “Revolution facilities are available to the public free of charge”.
To celebrate the return of Alta Quota, free admission has been confirmed for its opening day (Friday, September 30, from 17:00 to 22:00). The event will close its doors on Sunday, October 2, at 20:00.
