This year the Madonna di Campiglio Carnival will take place from February 17 to 25, 2012. The Habsburg court is the star of this traditional event on the snow of the Pearl of the Brenta Dolomites, which brings back to life the magical atmosphere of the late 1800s. Princess Sissi and Emperor Franz Joseph used to spend their holidays immersed in the enchanting atmosphere of the Brenta Dolomites.
It was way back in September 1889 when the August Sovereign, the beautiful Wittelsbach Princess, arrived in Madonna di Campiglio for the first time. She spent a week discovering the wonderful landscapes, the fresh waters and the healthy air at the foot of the Brenta Dolomites. A mountain that left its mark on the soul of the “heroine of the dream”. So much so that after just a few seasons, in 1894, she made her grand return.
The week from March 17 to 25, 2012 will be one of splendor and memorable events: imperial processions, torchlight descents, and the highlight of the royal week is the Emperor’s Grand Ball.
