On the slopes of Andalo in the Paganella ski area, every winter sees the return of the Alpine Rock Fest, one of the freshest and most youthful events across the entire Alpine Arc, capable of attracting thousands of skiers eager to admire the runs of the great champions and ski on the slopes of the Trentino resort.
The stars of the event are sport, music, and the best alpine ski athletes, ready to compete in a modern, lively, and exclusive setting. The race format is a giant slalom with 4 knockout rounds and the addition of an adrenaline-fueled jump right before crossing the finish line—in the past edition, Bode Miller tackled the jump with a spectacular 360!
Among the athletes who have competed in past editions are Aksel Lund Svindal, Ted Ligety, Philipp Schoerghofer, Bode Miller, Jon Olsson, and Christof Innerhofer.
Meanwhile, the past winners are Ted Ligety (2013), Davide Simoncelli (2012), Ted Ligety (2011), and Cyprien Richard (2009).
Andalo is leading the way with an offer hard to refuse for anyone wishing to watch the race: on December 23, while the big names battle it out on the Olimpionica 2 black slope, visitors can ski across the rest of the ski area with a daily ski pass for just €20, and even free of charge for FISI members. Moreover, on this magnificent day of sport, the town and the entire Paganella Plateau go “Rock”, with plenty of fun and side events at local venues.
Despite the challenging snow conditions, modern snowmaking systems are working day and night to supply the slopes with fresh snow; several lifts and slopes have opened in recent days, and another major section of the ski area is scheduled to open for the event.
Welcoming athletes and skiers on the slopes is also a new mountain hut: the modern Rifugio Dosson, built in wood and located right on the slopes.
