The Ciaspolissima is the traditional snowshoeing event that brings together lovers of snow hiking in Valbruna every year. Registration for the “Friulian” snowshoe walk is already open; this year the traditional weekend with “Ciaspole” (snowshoes) will be held on Saturday, January 21 and Sunday, January 22, 2012.
Saturday the 21st will be the day for free practice, when all athletes can train, get familiar with the course and discover the area; in the evening you can also take part in a night snowshoe walk, a magnificent moonlit stroll on the snow.
On Sunday the Ciaspolissima 2012 gets under way with a competitive and a non-competitive snowshoe event.
» The non-competitive snowshoe walk will start at 10:50 and cover a 5 km route.
» The competitive snowshoe race, on the other hand, will start at 10:45 on a 10 km course
Until Friday, January 20 (8 pm) you can register online at www.lussarissimo.com; after that, you can register on site up to 45 minutes before the start, with a €3 surcharge.
The meeting point will be the Hotel ristorante Renzo in Valbruna, where you can also rent snowshoes; in addition, registered participants will be entitled to special rates for accommodation and lunch/dinner during the event.
All participants in Sunday’s races will receive a race pack containing promotional products. The race prizes include: a one-week stay for 2 people in the Gran Sasso National Park, Ferrino clothing; Baldas snowshoes, a weekend in Tarvisio for 2 people, and a ham for the largest group.
The Ciaspolissima is once again one of the events that do most to showcase the mountains of Friuli, little known but very beautiful and ideal for anyone who loves snow hiking.
