Corvatsch 2012 opening

corvatsch2012openingThe winter season at Corvatsch kicks off on November 17, 2012, with the opening of the Surlej cable car, which starts from Silvaplana and reaches an altitude of 3,303 m. The entire ski area just a stone’s throw from St. Moritz, in Switzerland, will open on December 18 when the Furtschellas cable car in Sils-Maria goes into operation.

Events of the season

Engadin St. Moritz has a packed calendar lined up, and winter promises to be exciting right from the start of the season with a stylish launch thanks to the Ski Opening event from November 30 to December 2: at the Murtèl middle station, skiers will be able to test the most innovative ski equipment from top brands right on the slopes; in the evening, don’t miss the City Race, the famous ski race specially staged in the pedestrian zone of St. Moritz, where guests and celebrities will compete in a slalom through the town streets.

An unmissable fixture is the Snow Night, held every Friday from December 7 to April 5, 2013: the traditional night ski run opens at 7:00 PM and allows experienced skiers to ski until 1:00 AM along the floodlit slopes of Corvatsch. The event also takes place on New Year’s Eve during the Silvester Snow Night: for those choosing to ring in the New Year on the snow, the program offers the chance to dine in a mountain hut and dance the night away with a DJ.

Fun returns from January 31 to February 9, 2013 for the tenth edition of Engadinsnow.com, featuring performances by the world’s top freeskiers and snowboarders, who will show off champion-level jumps and aerials before the crowd and an international panel of judges. Finally, from March 29 to April 1, 2013, a rich program of activities and initiatives gives everyone the opportunity to spend an enjoyable Easter on the snow of Corvatsch.
