In the splendid resort at the foot of Mont Blanc, preparations are in full swing for the “big event”, which will also be preceded by the 48th Italian Ski and Snowboard Instructors Championship, scheduled from April 7 to 9, 2014. Aosta Valley is therefore gearing up for a great week of winter sports, which will also feature Leo Monthy, the mascot of the Italian Ski School.
For the finals of the 37th Gran Premio Giovanissimi – SILVER© CARE Trophy, taking place from April 11 to 13, 2014, overall coordination has been entrusted to the Monte Bianco Ski School, which boasts a staff of 180 snow professionals. More than fifty of them will be directly involved “on the ground”: setting up the race courses, handling overall event logistics, accreditation, the parade, the awards ceremonies, etc.
The race courses (alpine skiing, snowboarding, and Nordic skiing) will be set up on the “Le Greye” and “Chécrouit” slopes in the Courmayeur ski area, as well as in Val Ferret. The lift company Courmayeur Mont-Blanc Funivie reports that the snowpack currently ranges from 2.5 to 3 meters deep, meaning snow cover is 100% guaranteed. Not only that: it emphasizes that in the days leading up to the event, the slopes will be groomed with the utmost care to ensure the fairest racing conditions and, above all, maximum safety for the young athletes.
