At Nassfeld Pramollo ski lifts open starting December 1, 2012

Nassfeld Passo Pramollo

nassfeld passo pramolloOn the border between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Austria lies a ski resort that is little known in Italy yet highly appreciated for its ski slopes: Passo Pramollo (Nassfeld Hermagor) in Carinthia.
Set at a medium-low altitude, this ski area boasts a full 110km of ski slopes, ranking among the 10 largest ski areas in Austria despite a maximum elevation that does not exceed 2,000m.
Its geographical position makes it a ski resort particularly exposed to winter weather systems that dump abundant snow here throughout the ski season, lasting well into late spring thanks to cold winds from Russia that reach the area without encountering significant obstacles.
The modern ski lifts serve thousands of skiers who, in addition to numerous alpine ski runs, find several cross-country ski loops in the valley totaling an 80km trail network. Snowboarding is also given plenty of space at Nassfeld thanks to its Snowpark, which offers top-tier features and optimal maintenance.

In this corner of paradise nestled between the Italian Alps and the Austrian Alps, the 2012/2013 ski season is just around the corner and there is plenty of news for this new winter as well. By far the most significant is the renewal of the partnership between Nassfeld and 10 other ski resorts across Carinthia (Austria), Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Slovenia.
Specifically, purchasing a single ski pass allows you to ski in the ski areas of Nassfeld Pramollo, Weissbriach, Kötschach, Dreiländereck, Forni di Sopra, Ravascletto-Zoncolan, Piancavallo, Sauris, Tarvisio, Sella Nevea, and Bovec (in Slovenia, connected to Sella Nevea).
The agreement with the neighboring Austrian region of East Tyrol (Osttirol) has also been renewed, allowing skiers to move seamlessly from one resort to another with a single ski pass.

Although snow conditions are not quite ideal yet, Nassfeld Pramollo has announced the opening of its ski lifts for December 1, 2012. A major weather system is expected to arrive this week, which will very likely enable the ski resort to open at least its high-altitude slopes.
