Power Powder Contest 2012 in La Thuile

La Thuile freeride

The new edition of the Power Powder Contest will take place in La Thuile on January 21 and 22, 2012. The event owes its success to the combination of a few key ingredients: sport and competition, adrenaline and fun. It consists of two days devoted to challenges on the snow, competition and pure, breathtaking fun.

The event features two spectacular competitions, freeride and climbing, which will be held respectively on a famous off-piste slope in La Thuile and on the bouldering wall of the very well-equipped Konver climbing gym.
The competition was conceived by Moreno Dalle Mole, a lover of extreme activities and the mountains; it is certainly thrilling for enthusiasts and lets them put their talent and skill to the test both on the snow, with off-piste snowboard, ski and telemark contests, and on the wall, with indoor climbing.

Each participant can choose what to sign up for and what to take part in, according to the discipline that suits them best and their favourite playing field.
Specifically, the Power is the indoor bouldering contest in jam format, the Powder consists of freeride descents on the snow of La Thuile, while the Power Powder Contest is a combined event for all-rounders.
The winners of each discipline (ski and telemark, snowboard, bouldering) will receive a cup and a prize: €200 for first place, €100 for second; as for the combined event, first place will receive €400 and second place €200.

A rich and full programme is planned for the two days of competition, including opportunities to meet important guests and leading figures in these activities.
On Saturday, January 21, for example, there will be a talk by Maurizio Zanolla, the climber known as “Manolo”, who became famous above all for his tenacious personality and his constant experimentation in climbing, always in search of newer and more personal approaches and styles. He has climbed peaks all over the world: from the Himalayas to the Alps, from Norway to America, and all the way to Greece. He has also tackled some of the most famous and feared routes in pure free-climbing style.

On Sunday, January 22, Italian national team athlete Gabriele Moroni will be on hand as route setter for the bouldering contest, creating the climbing lines on the blocks of the Import Climbing Italia structure.
And for a moment of relaxation and fun, the famous climber Tazio Gavioli will show off his strength in a show entitled Tazio il Biondo PowerShow.
