The snow has arrived and this time the forecasts did not disappoint. From the early hours of this morning the first snowflakes began to fall on the Italian ski resorts. The snow kept falling intermittently throughout the day, with accumulations varying from region to region and from area to area.
The snow level was higher than forecast: no snow above 1,200 m (with a few exceptions), but a snow level of around 1,400-1,500 m.
The amount of snow that fell is not much, ranging from a light dusting here and there to around 20 cm in Alta Valtellina. On average, about 5-10 cm fell at 1,700-1,800 m.
The weather front affected all the Alpine areas, especially Lombardy and Trentino, but Friuli Venezia Giulia (almost dry until now) was also able to benefit from the arrival of the white stuff.

A light dusting on Livigno and heavier snowfall in Val Brembana, the first snowflakes in the village centre of Madonna di Campiglio, a respectable snowfall on the Paganella plateau and a light “dusting of flour” on the mountains of Folgaria.
Nothing exceptional, but for the coming days (starting from Wednesday) the weather is expected to worsen again, bringing new snowfall, this time more substantial!
A little snow fell today too and the forecasts look promising: the situation seems to be taking a turn for the better and we could soon find ourselves in the long-awaited winter.
