Weather reports are driving ski enthusiasts crazy, tourism operators are worried about visitor numbers, and snow is arriving in southern Italy while remaining scarce in the Alps. “ Snow is scarce everywhere in northern Italy, but Italian winter resorts are proving up to the task anyway – comments Floriano Omoboni, founder and anchorman of Sportoutdoor tv, the first Italian multi-platform dedicated to outdoor sports, who continues – In response to the controversies that have filled the news in recent days, people are skiing in the mountains and skiing well”.
Natural snow is certainly scarce, but the ski resorts of Trentino, from Campiglio to Tonale, from Folgarida to Marilleva, and from Val di Fiemme to Val di Fassa, have recorded an overall improvement in financial results thanks to excellent infrastructure as well as targeted artificial snowmaking and open lifts, along with highly appreciated overall services and comforts, so much so that they achieved a record tourist attendance in the month of December.
“Let us immediately dispel the clichés spread in recent weeks that there has been no snow, that you cannot ski, that the season is ruined. The Dolomite landscape is certainly affected by the lack of snow and of the charm of the white lady on the peaks, but for enthusiasts it is still possible to enjoy splendid sunny days with skis on their feet. The lifts are open and the snow is splendid”, concludes Omoboni.
Snow itself will take center stage in the episode of SKIMAGAZINE airing on Monday, January 19 on ODEON (LCN 177 Monday at 10:00 pm) and on the new national TV channel ITALIA 53 (LCN 53, Monday at 8:30 pm), as well as on a network of over 100 leading regional channels, including historic broadcasters Trentino TV (LCN 12) and Alto Adige tv (LCN 112). The magazine show will be entirely dedicated to the 3Tre, a historic winter sports race valid for the Alpine Ski World Cup, held in Madonna di Campiglio. The episode will cover the backstage of the event and the history of this race, which is a milestone of Italian skiing and has been on the calendar since way back in 1949.
