Accepting the invitation of the Masters World Cup Asiago 2013 Local Organizing Committee, the Vicenza-based brand’s team will serve as official technical partner for the major Nordic skiing event taking place at the Golf Arena in Asiago from February 14 to 22.

“We were looking for a reliable partner to ensure the grooming and maintenance of the race trails without damaging the delicate turf of the golf course during low-snow conditions,” commented Alessandro Rigoni, Executive President of the MWC ASIAGO 2013 Organizing Committee. “Alpina stepped up, providing the support of its staff and supplying its acclaimed Sherpa 1.6L VCT snowmobile equipped with the F-250 tiller and tracksetter.”

“It was ten days of hard, exemplary work involving dozens of volunteers provided by the two sports clubs organizing the event—Gruppo Sportivo Alpini Asiago and Unione Sportiva Asiago Sci—to prepare the base, and their efforts were rewarded by praise from participants who recognized the technical quality and flawless snow cover of the trails,” Rigoni continued. “Then more snow finally arrived, and all the trails specially designed for the Masters World Cup are now ready and open to everyone in the days leading up to the Plateau’s biggest sporting event of 2013.”

“The Sherpa is a reliable, versatile machine, both for logistical transport and for trail grooming,” confirmed Fabrizio Dalle Ave, president of Gruppo Sportivo Alpini Asiago, who saw the Sherpa’s capabilities firsthand during the challenging preparation for the Italian Masters Cross-Country Skiing Championships held on January 12. “A true test weekend ahead of the Masters World Cup Asiago 2013,” noted Sergio Rigoni, president of Unione Sportiva Asiago Sci, which co-organized the event alongside GSA Asiago.
“Those field tests in tough conditions,” commented Umberto and Paolo Vedovato, “confirmed once again that the F-250 delivers a skating lane and classic track quality comparable to a full-size snowcat, but at a fraction of the cost.”

The results were especially appreciated by the groomers at the Golf Arena because the F-250’s capabilities, combined with the relatively light weight of the Sherpa 1.6L VCT compared to a snowcat, made it possible to work when and where a snowcat could not have gone without damaging the underlying golf course turf.

Now all that remains is to welcome Bjørn Dæhlie, official ambassador of the Masters World Cup—the greatest of all time, the Norwegian legend with 8 Olympic golds, 9 World Championship titles, and 6 overall World Cup crystal globes, making him the most successful athlete in cross-country skiing history. Joining him at the start line for the Nordic skiing races on the Plateau will be over 1,400 athletes from around the globe.
